Oral Sedation
Oral sedation dentistry has helped many patients overcome dental phobia so that they receive the dental care they need.An oral sedative, like Valium or Halcyon, will make you feel woozy and relaxed. In most cases, the pill should be taken about one hour prior to treatment. For an even stronger effect, oral sedation can be combined with nitrous oxide. While you are under sedation, you’ll retain the ability to respond to Dr. Tomasik’s instructions and questions, but you may not recall details – like sights and sounds – the following day. We will closely monitor your comfort and vital signs during any sedation appointment. You should plan to have someone drive you home from our office after sedation. It’s a good idea to stay home and relax until the effects of the medication fully subside. Plan to return to normal activities the next day
